Aaaah…call this a labor of love, if you will: marketing the music and the vibrant, joyful voice of my all-time favorite singer - and spreading the Sam Cooke gospel in the process !!! That's heaven to me, indeed. Sam Cooke was the greatest American singer of all times, hands down; no ifs, ands or buts. Respectfully, the fans of Enrico Caruso, Frankie Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat "King" Cole or Billy Ecstine can take their case elsewhere – our judgment is final (and also shared by such an authority as Jerry Wexler, legendary Atlantic A&R man, who - to paraphrase his words - proclaimed that Sam Cooke was a "perfect" singer, who "had it all"). In an unlikely event that you are totally unfamiliar with Sam’s music, this is the disc from which you should start building your Sam Cooke collection. This PROMO-ONLY 1975  12"-RECORD lovingly samples no less than 30 (count ‘em) of his biggest hits - each and every one of them, actually; practically every single Sam Cooke song that ever charted, starting with FIRST hit "You send me" and following his Keen and RCA career down to his untimely death in 1964. 30 songs are represented by segments – shorter versions of original songs - all in their ORIGINAL MONO versions, many unavailable in MONO for decades

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS EXCELLENT. This is one of those albums that are somewhat difficult to grade. It is somewhere between VG++ and NEAR MINT, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions ARE visible, but they are extremely shallow, superficial  and only moderately visually distracting (nothing significant).For the most part, the vinyl looks impeccable without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)            The record is pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.

(c)           Stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·                               THE COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 4  (front side) and 3 (back side)

-         Cover has a visible wrinkle (crease) in the cardboard base on the back panel, running parallel to the top seam (a minor cover construction flaw typical of all ABKCO publisher demo releases (Rolling Stones, Sam Cooke. Smokey Robinson & The Miracles) (nothing significant)

-         Cover has  visible "wrinkles"(creases)  in two corners on the spine

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine

-         Cover has three corners slightly dinged
