It was 12 years ago that then rising star Sakro, a deep house producer from Aguascalientes, Mexico, popped up on Lake Placid with Beautiful People, an EP of rare quality that variously recalled the work of various New Jersey, New York and Chicago house producers of old. As this reissue proves, it remains a fine EP. The title track, where warming electric piano chords, dusty samples and moon-lit musical motifs rise above a swinging NJ garage-house groove, is undoubtedly the headline attraction, though we're also big fans of the chunkier and more loose-limbed 'Real Deal'. This gets the remix treatment from Andrade, who strips back the track, opting for sparser beats and drowsier chords.
