SABL 189/190 Philips – WALTER: MAHLER SYMPHONY No.2 "RESURRECTION"
Original 1958 Philips stereo recording pressed in England on maroon/silver Hi-Fi-Stereo label, catalogue numbers SABL 189/190 (835 569 AY). Mahler’s Symphony No.2 in C minor ("Resurrection"): Bruno Walter conducting the New York Philharmonic with Emilia Cundari (soprano), Maureen Forrester (contralto) and the Westminster Choir.
The 2 discs are coupled sides 1/4 and 2/3. Side 1 has a very light 1½cm scratch which produces 1 tick near the start; on the rest of the side are 4 VERY faint random ticks. Sides 2 & 4 have no visible or audible defects; side 3 has no visible defects but we detected 1 very faint tick. The labels on sides 2 & 4 have "Sample – Not for re-sale" stamped in black. The thick card flip-back sleeves are intact but have edge & corner damage & creasing plus age discolouration on rear.
