Up for bid is a rare LP, "Late Date With Ruth Brown." This was released by Atlatic Records in 1958. The interior labels are green with black lettering and have a deep groove on either side. Etched matrix info on side 1 reads: (at the 12:00 position) ST-A#59139B (and at the 6:00 position) OSS Stereo #0816593. Etched matrix info on side 2 reads: (at the 12:00 position) ST-A#59140B (and at the 6:00 position) OSS Stereo #0816594. Here is some extra info from the internet:
A good after-hours, smoky blues and R&B session featuring Ruth Brown in prime form. Nobody, male or female, sang with more spirit, sass, and vigor than Brown during the '50s, and this session reminded those who had forgotten that Brown could also hold her own with sophisticated material as well as sexy stuff.
LP is a solid VG+. Side 1 has several light scuffs and several light scratches. Side 2 has a couple of tiny faint scuffs with a couple of very small scratches. LP plays with some surface noise (crackle, tics, pops) - but no skips (an enjoyable listen!). A professional clean should greatly reduce the amount of surface noise. LP is very clean and retains a nice gloss. Jacket is VG+, with no seam splits. There is light wear on all seams and corners. There is light ring wear on the back of the jacket. There are some light scuffs on the front and back of the jacket. There is some discoloration along the lip on the front and back of the jacket. The colors are still bright and the front and back retain a nice gloss. This LP set with the green label is hard to find in any condition! Don't miss your chance to pick up this extremely rare gem!
