Rufus Thomas   BEAR CAT / Walking In The Rain  Original 78 rpm SUN 181 VG to VG+.
As most collectors of SUN 78's probably already know, there weren't a LOT of them pressed by Sam Phillips to begin with. And.... Due to the FRAGILE NATURE of the very brittle shellac, not many of them have survived the past 60 years which makes a 78 rpm WORTH A LOT MORE than it's COUNTERPART, the VINYL 45 rpm.
There were 2 Versions of the LABEL for the BEAR CAT side issued as the 1st ones had "Reply to Hound Dog" above BEAR CAT and Sam Phillips got sued for this and had to REMOVE those words from the label amd release it as BEAR CAT.
If you've ever been to SUN STUDIO in Memphis, THIS copy is in 100% BETTER Condition than the one they have on display, UNLESS they've REPLACED IT by now. It'll look GREAT Framed & Displayed on YOUR wall !  THIS ORIGINAL SUN 78 rpm STILL RETAINS 65%+ of it's Original LUSTER and SHINE with a FEW LIGHT HAIRLINES & a FEW Scuff Marks that DON'T Affect playback.
Playback on BOTH SIDES is GREAT with MINIMAL background noise in the quieter places but STILL DOESN'T override the vocals and music. Don't get me wrong,  there IS SOME light noise AND the Original SUN Hiss, but for this recording.... It SOUNDS GREAT. Of course all I use them for is DISPLAYING on my music room wall. It's VISUALLY very NICE considering it's AGE and the fact that not too many of these have survived 60 years in THIS Condition. Please ZOOM ALL photos and ASK ANY questions BEFORE bidding as ALL SALES ARE FINAL due to a few CROOKED Buyers who have tried to SWAP OUT their DEFECTIVE items for mine. The item that you see pictured is the item that you'll receive.
Shipping is via USPS Priority Mail w/Insurance and the 78 will be SECURELY PACKAGED for shipment.
This being said.... In the EVENT that the 78 should be damaged in transit, being INSURED the Insurance is through the USPS and the claim must be filed from YOUR END, the RECEIVING END. Sending it BACK TO ME will only make things WORSE. The REASON for INSURING IT is so that we deal WITH THE USPS and NOT eBay.
eBay's INSANITY of RETURNING IT TO THE SELLER basically VOIDS the USPS Insurance as the CLAIM should have been filed on THE RECEIVING END and sending it BACK to ME is NOT THE WAY USPS Insurance WORKS.
IF you don't AGREE with THIS....DO NOT BID on THIS ITEM.
I'm not trying to scare you about the shipping of these FRAGILE 78's as I've only had ONE damaged in shipping in the past 25 years. I PACKAGE them VERY SECURELY with FRAGILE Stickers & FRAGILE Tape all over the outer package. And shipping them via USPS Priority 2-3 Day Mail is a major factor in their handling during shipping. Be sure whenever you OPEN the shipping box to SAVE ALL of the internal packing to show the post office IN CASE of a claim. 😉
