Description
Here's an amazing rarity. It's the vinyl version of RuPaul's landmark 1993 Supermodel Of The World album. A groundbreaking house record -- and a big moment in the history of gay / trans / drag rights.
If you're looking at this, you know what a fun, steeped-in-the-'90s record it is. And CDs were at the height of their popularity -- so not many of these were sold.
I was working at a radio station at the time -- and got both the record and CD from Tommy Boy upon their release. I did play this a few times -- but very carefully and on a high-quality turntable with a great stylus / needle. The vinyl has a very few visual paper scuffs -- but plays 100% mint (I just played it and it sounds wonderful).
The sleeve looks perfect at first glance. When you hold it under a light (see photo 4), you can see a rectangular indentation. It came to me this way 25 years ago -- and I think it must just be where a pile of CDs was stacked on top of it at the label's office. It's very superficial and not very noticeable. But I wanted to point out every single thing.
I've enjoyed having this for more than two decades, but it's time for me to pare down a bit.
