1/2 Speed pressed in virgin vinyl. The London Symphony conducted by the legendary Charles Solti. The following critique is by Charles Salvatore, audio critic: "This Mobile reissue, part of their early 1980's series, is on another sonic level. It is superb in every way; with an exceptionally low sound-floor and a very immediate, dynamic, natural and "alive" sound. It's about as good as it gets."
This item is a “cutout.” For those who may not know what a cutout is, it is, in this case, a vinyl record sold at a retail outlet which must be marked as a discounted item if it is selling at a price below MSRP. By agreement with some manufacturers, all such merchandise must be marked in some fashion to indicate that it is a discounted item. In most instances, it is marked by removing the original wrapping, defacing the jacket usually by punching a small hole in one of the corners and then rewrapping the item. There is no difference in the item or one that is still packaged in the factory wrapping. Neither has ever been played. Cutouts represent the opportunity for the buyer to enjoy the vinyl recording at a discount to a factory sealed recording.
In this case, the discounts resulted in the need to trim inventory of vinyl records to make room for the CDs that had just been introduced in the latter 1980s. The seller acquired this item in the latter 1980s when the Tower Record Outlet in Hollywood, CA, was exchanging its inventory of vinyl records for Cds.
