Description

An original 1st stereo press of SATANIC on UK Decca from '67. Not necessarily their high tide mark by any means - but from a collecting point of view 'highly desirable'. And there's plenty of great music on this underrated classic. For anyone not fully acquainted with this title it did get somewhat panned and is, therefore, one of the Stones poorer selling albums. At 1st release many of the copies were blue label mono. It is, in fact, the true 1st issue stereo that's by far the hardest to find. And, in addition, finding it in well preserved condition because that's what a collector will be most hankering after.
Genuine stereo 1st from '67 on the classic unboxed Decca label. The really KEY thing to look for on a genuine 1st is the Decca deep groove on the label. Also, the early copies DO NOT mention the 33rpm speed on the labels - later copies do. A fair few copies were re-pressed in stereo through 68/69/70 etc - but the genuine 1st from '67 is not easy to find in great condition. Matrix 5k/6k. Stampers 1G/1CG - so the audio is direct from a 1st mother. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original LENTICULAR gatefold cover [stereo]. We also have the psyche inner too. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition having only seen light use. Under close inspection just a couple of minor marks per side - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of minor deviations. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. It's not everyday you spot these true 1st copies that have actually been looked after. Usually they've been through the mill.. This is one of the better 1st stereo's I've had the pleasure to spin.. And there are plenty of fussy tracks on this LP.  A few crackles in a couple of brief spots per side. A really good rendition of  'Rainbow' with minimal issue. And this track is a notorious pain in the derriere to find playing well. A couple of ticks in the intro to '2000 Light Years' & 'On With The Show'. Lovein' it. Highly recommended.
Cover (Ex) Really nice looking lenticular cover - they don't often surface in smart condition like this. Usually they've seen a lot of edge wear and the lenticular is in poor condition. Someone's looked after this copy. The lenticular is very well preserved with no scuffing, no glue deterioration, no fracturing [superb!]. The front panel is bowing slightly as you will find on nearly all copies due to the lenticular gripping the gatefold. Edge wear is mostly minor with just a 4 inch patch atop the right handle panel [not worn through]. The interior is not exhibiting much wear - just a couple of white flecks on the left panel. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A super specimen.
Inner (Ex-) Much better than you typically find. No splits or tears.
