Description
Part of my Rolling Stones collection I'm in the process of slimming down (still...). To accompany the Volume One box I've listed, here is the second instalment. This 1980 German box compiles all of the 45, EP and compilation tracks not on the original albums with the exception of the tracks compiled onto the Around and Around LP, which is part of box one.
50 tracks, which in addition to the standard classic 45's and B sides includes-
- Poison Ivy and Fortune Teller, the cancelled 45
- Surprise Surprise, from the Fourteen compilation LP
- Tell Me, second version later replaced on the Rolling Stones LP
- Time Is On My Side, first 45 version
- Da Doo Ron Ron, Memphis from the Andrew Loog Oldham Orchestra LP. I believe that this is where all of those subsequent bootleg appearances were sourced
- The Got Live If You Want It EP tracks
- Everybody Needs Somebody To Love, second studio version released by mistake on The Rolling Stones Now
- One More Try, German, US only from Out of Our Heads
- Look What You've Done, Blue Turns To Grey - US only from Decembers Children
- Con Le Mie Lacrime, Italian As Tears Go By
- Sittin' On A Fence, Ride On Baby, My Girl - US only from Flowers
- You Can't Always Get What You Want, B side edited version
- Memo From Turner, Natural Magic. Mick Jagger solo 45 from Performance
These are all the high Quality German Decca stereo pressings; The vinyl is immaculate with no scratches or marks. Labels likewise, with the exception of LP3 where there is some minor spindle marks.
Each LP is housed in it's own sleeve with a period shot on face A and recording and source details for each track on face A along with the chart activity where applicable. This is written in English.
There is some slight age spotting on the inside of the box lid and on the front of sleeve 3 - see the picture. This isn't damage, it's a consequence of the ageing process of paper.
The sleeves are complete with no rips or tears, although they do show signs of being handled.
The box is sound and complete, including the hinges. It shows the normal sort of wear you'd expect from storage - slight scuffing to the glossy cover, slight marking to the matt rear, and it also has some slight breakage on the top front - see the picture.
This is an excellent overview of the Stones, really well put together and sequenced by someone who knew what they were doing. Even if it wasn't a "catch all" set to compliment the LP box it would still be an essential box and still now outstrips some of the travesties we've had foisted on us over the years.
As far as postage goes, I only use Royal Mail and I only charge the cost of mailing the item. If, for whatever reason, the price I've charged you is greater than the actual cost I always refund the difference. I'll ship worldwide. Europe will cost £12.50, USA/ROW £17.20 Global Priority
If you've won any of the other Stones items I've listed, please wait for a combined invoice as the total postage is likely to be less than the two amounts combined. Thanks.
