The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers - 1979 ESS-63001 Japan Zipper / Gatefold
For sale is my copy of Sticky Fingers - the much fabled 1979 Japanese ESS-63001 pressing, considered to be the most vibrant and detailed version of the record.
It is complete as the Andy Warhol designed 'Zipper' sleeve, which folds out into the famous gatefold image underneath - on this LP the gatefold has never been opened and therefore I have left it in its pristine form! It will be up to the next owner to decide whether to break the seal.
As you can see from the photographs, the sleeve / original inner / insert booklet are about as Near Mint as it is possible to be. No creases, dents, tears, price labels or seam-splits to be found. There are some impression marks front and back which look like the effects of neighbouring 'zippers' when these were originally on the retail shelves in 1979.
I have stored the sleeve in a Big Fudge outer, and the record in a MoFi inner for archival-level storage.
The vinyl itself has a notable edge warp at one quadrant - see the last two photographs. Otherwise - as can be seen in the photos - the vinyl is flawless, unmarked, glossy. The warp does not affect playback on the Technics SL1200G seen in the images. I cannot guarantee lesser quality decks would not have issues. Without the warp the vinyl would also be Near Mint, but due to its presence I have downgraded two-levels in grading / pricing to Very Good.
Vinyl VG: unmarked, beautifully glossy, with pristine labels, notable edge warp;
Sleeve / Inner / Booklet NM: all in wonderful shape and originals from 1979, see photographs for details, gatefold / zipper never opened, no Obi.
Gold-standard Discogs gradings used.
