Description

THE ROLLING STONES - 'No.2'

1965 UK 1sr PRESSING LP

This superb disc forms part of a unbeatable collection of top condition Rolling Stones UK 1st pressings which I have the pleasure to list this week. Please take a look at my shop to view the complete collection.

When the first printing of the LP sleeve was issued the sleeve notes included the wording - "...If you don't have bread, see that blind man knock him on the head, steal his wallet and low and behold you have the loot, if you put in the boot, good, another one sold!..." this was quickly deemed offensive and existing covers were pasted-over with a version of the sleeve notes which omitted the offending text.

This EXCELLENT 1965 UK mono 1st pressing on the unboxed, deep-groove red & silver Decca label: LK.4661

Housed in a front laminated non-flipback cover with the aforementioned uncensored text on the rear panel

Complete with its original printed poly-lined inner-sleeve.

Matrices: XARL-6619-2A & XARL-6620-2A

Stamper codes: 1/UG & 3B/BB

The 'KT' purchase tax code is present in both run-outs.

Disc weight: 149g

CONDITION

Disc

Labels: EXCELLENT

Both are clean, bright & undamaged with a small collection of light spindle trails around each centre hole.

Visual: EXCELLENT

An extremely clean & deep-gloss pair of playing surfaces where the only blemish in strong daylight is a light/non-feelable 2cm surface mark on side 2. Careful inspection directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals little more than a handful of insignificant light marks from inner-sleeve removal but no other traces of wear whatsoever. Both sides lie of this fine copy lie 100% flat when playing, with no dishing or warping.

Play: EXCELLENT +

This great sounding copy has received only some careful play on good quality equipment and the sound throughout is clean & unworn. My single careful play check at volume revealed no clicks, pops, ticks or any other such audible distraction or wear on or between any of these amazing tracks.

Cover

VERY GOOD +

A very respectable example of this striking cover which retains a rich and unworn front panel where the only significant sign of wear is a little lifting of the laminate towards the spine. All corners are undamaged and free from any heavy bumps or bruises. There is some discolouration to the opening edges and a tiny 2mm 'nick' to the rear. The rear panel itself however is clean overall with just some minor age-related blemishes but no writing or missing paper. Both seams are smooth & unstressed and the spine is fully worded and undamaged.

Inner-sleeve

VERY GOOD

General handling & storagewear creasing with a small shop stamp in one corner, but no seams splits or tears.
