Description

THE ROLLING STONES - 'No.2'

UK 1965 *1st PRESSING* LP

When the first print of the LP sleeve was issued, the sleeve notes included the wording - "...If you don't have bread, see that blind man knock him on the head, steal his wallet and low and behold you have the loot, if you put in the boot, good, another one sold!...". This was quickly deemed offensive and existing covers were pasted-over with a version of the sleeve notes which omitted the offending text.

This outstanding, barely played copy is on the unboxed, deep-groove red & silver Decca label: LK.4661

Matrices: XARL-6619-2A & XARL-6620-1A

Stamper codes: 1/UG & 1/HB

The 'KT' purchase tax code is present in both run-outs.

Disc weight: 139g

Housed in a front laminated, non-flipback 'Printed in England' cover with the corrected/paste-over rear panel.

Complete with its original printed poly-lined inner-sleeve.

CONDITION

Disc

Labels: NEAR MINT

A pristine pair with no discernable spindle marks or wear to either side.

Visual: EXCELLENT +

Both playing surfaces of this well-looked after and barely handled copy appears ar first glance to be 'as new'. Careful examination in strong daylight shows up just a single light fingernail line on the 1st track of side 2 but no other visible marks or wear. Close inspection directly beneath halogen light reveals little more than a sparkling rainbow shine & a few barely visible inner-sleeve storage marks on side 1 but no hairlines or any other visual blemishes whatsoever.

Play: NEAR MINT

This copy has clearly been barely played and my careful playcheck at volume found no evidence of any audible wear or faults on or between any of these explosive track. Very tough to upgrade this one.

Cover

EXCELLENT

A perfectly clean, unscratched and high-gloss front panel which bears just a few light 'thumbnail' wrinkles & slight laminate lift towards the spine but no further significant signs of wear. All corners are clean, square & unbumped and both opening edges are clean, straight & undamaged. The paste-over rear panel is extremely clean & white overall with little more than a few tiny age-related blemishes but no writing or missing paper. Both seams are smooth and unstressed and in perfectly clean & undamaged with its factory-pinched ends still visible.

Inner-sleeve:

EXCELLENT -

Clean & flat with slight age-toning but no writing, tears or splits.
