Description

THE ROLLING STONES - 'No.2'

UK 1965 *1st PRESSING* LP

When the first print of the LP sleeve was issued the sleeve notes included the wording - "...If you don't have bread, see that blind man knock him on the head, steal his wallet and low and behold you have the loot, if you put in the boot, good, another one sold!..." this was quickly deemed offensive and existing covers were pasted-over with a version of the sleeve notes which omitted the offending text.

This UNCENSORED version of the cover contains a truely EXCELLENT 1965 1st UK mono pressing on the unboxed, deep-groove red & silver Decca label: LK.4661

Housed in a front laminated, bi-flipback 'James Upton' printed cover with the uncensored text on the rear panel.

Complete with its original printed poly-lined inner-sleeve.

Matrices: XARL-6619-2A & XARL-6620-1A

Stamper codes: 1/HC & 2B/HI

The 'KT' purchase tax code is present in both run-outs.

Disc weight: 153g

CONDITION

Disc

Labels: EXCELLENT

Both are clean, bright & undamaged with some light spindle trails around each centre hole.

Visual: EXCELLENT +

Both playing surfaces of this extremely well-looked after & carefully handled copy are unmarked & 'as new' in strong daylight. Careful examination in strong daylight shows up little more than a sparkling rainbow shine and a handful of barely visible wispy paper-type hairlines but no other blemishes or wear whatsoever. Both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable with no signs of dishing or warping.

Play: EXCELLENT +

This great sounding copy has received just some careful play on good equipment and my careful playcheck at volume found no wear from overplay, background noise, clicks or pops. The only audible blemish are a few seconds of hiss at the very beginning of track 1, side 2. Apart from that, there is little to fault on this cherished copy.

Cover

EXCELLENT

A perfectly clean high-gloss front panel which bears just a single 'thumbnail' and another small wrinkle near the lower edge but no other significant signs of wear. All corners are clean, square & unbumped and both opening edges are clean & undamaged. The rear panel is extremely clean & white overall with little more than a few small marks towards the opening edge but no writing or missing paper. Both flipbacks & seams are clean & undamaged, as is the fully worded spine with its factory-pinched ends still visible.

Inner-sleeve:

EXCELLENT

Clean & flat with minor storage creasing, but no writing, tears or splits.
