Description

An original 1968 Decca pressing of this hard to find Export LP. Matrix 1W/1W. 1st pressing was summer 1967 and this copy would have been available for sale around 1 year later. Stampers 1-BH/1-BM. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Robert Stace cover with pinched spine. Also included is an original blue and white Decca poly-lined inner sleeve from the late-sixties.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg+) In great shape and has only seen light to moderate use. Under close inspection I could make out a few light marks per side - nothing heavy or sinister looking. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly, but not exclusively, NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. By and large a clean player with a beautiful full bodied sound. When on song this Lp is a "right little corker". Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. I picked up a bit of background in the first half of 'Backstreet Girl'. But thankfully it dissipates half way through the track - with the remainder of the song playing real sweet. The rest of the LP plays clean with only the slightest background in a couple of momentary spots. Even Lady Jane [the really low-key track] plays much better than you typically tend to find - no issues. "My Girl" plays as clean as a whistle. The deviations are a couple of ticks in 'MLH' & 'Ruby Tuesday'.. and then 6-7 ticks during 'Take It Or Leave It'. Nothing upfront or intrusive - so you should be able to live with that providing you are not the uber fussy sort.  A lovely rendition of this sought after release.
Cover (Vg+) In great shape and looking far better than many examples that surface. The front looks great with little sign of ageing and only a couple of minor thumbnail creases. The rear has escaped the worst of the usual fading exhibiting - just a bit noticeable at the extremities. Edge wear is minimal and the openings are still sharpish. The spine is in excellent order with all text fully legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex) Minimal signs of ageing. No splits. Nice!
