Most Desirable Flowers
Flowers divides opinion among the Rolling Stones faithful. Some view it as cynical U.S. record company cash grab. Others view it as a wonderful collection of hard-edged pop songs (with a few rarities) that only the Rolling Stones could’ve recorded during their tremendous artistic growth spurt in 1965–1966.
 
What isn’t in dispute is the MONO UK Decca pressing of Flowers offered here is one of the rarest and most desirable Stones LPs to find in any condition. The fact that the songs were recorded during Brian Jones’ rebirth as an instrumental colorist makes it even more special.
 
Unusually, although Flowers was a London Records creation for U.S. fans, its popularity prompted Decca to press “export” copies to sell in Western Europe. London Records copies went on sale June 26, 1967, and Decca export copies went on sale July 15, 1967. In that same year, record companies were slowly starting to phase out mono LPs, and the vast majority of Decca export copies of Flowers were in stereo.

This MONO UK Decca Flowers LP is a deep groove pressing with a 1st master lacquer, 1st stampers, and 1st mother numbers.



CONDITION

DISC: This extraordinarily rare UK for Export 1st pressing Decca MONO LP is visually in VERY GOOD+ condition. Both sides retain full gloss, but also have light surface scratches and hairlines. Both Decca labels show minimal spindle trails.

COVER: The Robert Stace front-side laminated cover is in EXCELLENT condition. It shows some storage wear and has a number written on the upper left hand corner on the back side. Overall, this cover is presentable and part of a very rare package.

INNER SLEEVE: The original Decca polythene-lined die-cut inner sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition, with signs of mild storage wear.
