Description
The Rolling Stones “Exile On Main St.” Original 1972 pressing UK 2xLP. Stereo. Gatefold Jacket with heavy-stock color printed inner sleeves, original plain white inner sleeves, and 12 black & white postcards (all still attached to each other).
Early Matrix numbers with “Rolling Stones Records” etched into the runout grooves. 1972 Rolling Stones Records COC 69100. Made in the United Kingdom.
All Runout grooves have the stamped “Artisan Logo” stamped in addition to the individual markings per side, listed below:
SIDE 1 MATRIX/ETCHINGS:
- COC69100A1 (stamped); Rolling Stones Records St-RS-722507 (etched); 2 1 2 (stamped) NOTE: The last “2” could also be a “1” as it is very faint and difficult to see clearly; V (stamped) NOTE: this “V” could also be an “A” as it is very difficult to see.
SIDE 2 MATRIX/ETCHINGS:
- COC69100B2 (stamped); Rolling Stones Records St-RS-722508 N (etched) (NOTE: This “N” also looks like a sideways “Z”); M (stamped) NOTE: this “M” could also be an “N”. It is very difficult to determine since it is extremely faint; V (stamped) NOTE: this “V” could also be an “A” as it is very difficult to see.
SIDE 3 MATRIX/ETCHINGS:
- COC69100C2 (stamped); Rolling Stones Records ST-RS-722509 (etched); 1 4 (stamped)
SIDE 4 MATRIX/ETCHINGS:
- COC69100D1 (stamped); Rolling Stones Records ST-RS-722510 (etched); V (stamped) NOTE: this “V” could also be an “A” as it is very difficult to see); 1 G (stamped) NOTE: The “G” could also be a “6”. It is very difficult to determine.
LP JACKET: No seam-splits or unwanted writing. Corners have some crinkling. The right spine has clearly legible text with very little signs of wear. The left spine has some signs of wear (mostly as it approaches the corners). All other edges have signs of wear such as fraying that exposes the white-colored paper stock (but no actual seam-splits). There are some very light creases on the right portion of the inside of the Gatefold (with the close-up pictures of Mick Jagger) that only become noticeable if you were to tilt it at an angle against direct light. Overall, in fantastic condition.
VINYL: Has a beautiful, deep, rich, glossy sheen to the surfaces. If you were to tilt the vinyl at an angle against direct sunlight and inspect it closely, some wispy hairline marks, sleeve removal marks, and lite line marks become detectable which are otherwise very difficult to see under normal room light. Please see the collage pictures of the vinyl taken both in direct sunlight and normal room light.
COLOR INNER SLEEVES: Nice heavy stock paper on these. No seam-splits, rips or tears. Corners are crisp with only the tiniest hints of bumping and that’s if you’re scrutinizing each corner extremely closely.
POSTCARDS: all still attached together and in excellent condition. There is a small fold line mark on one corner of the “Scene 12” postcard that’s noticeable on the white colored side (not on the picture side). See pic.
ORIGINAL PLAIN WHITE INNER SLEEVES: These are the original plain white sleeves that go inside the color inner picture sleeves. Excellent condition.
