Description
An original late-1969 copy of BTB's on the UK Boxed Decca label. Matrix 1K/4K. Take a look at the tape number directly above the catalogue number on the labels - it's inverted. This was only ever used in the sixties as exhibited by most unboxed Decca pressings. So, this is likely to have been one of the very 1st copies on the 'NEW BOXED DESIGN'. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in a James Upton cover with pinched spine and there's also a later Decca inner sleeve.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a number of those bag-rash type marks - but these are of a very superficial nature and will not feature at all. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. I often find many BTB copies, even the unboxed copies, quite disappointing from an audio perspective. But this late 60's boxed copy has really got something going for it. You can really crank it up and all those fussy percussive tracks seem to come through very nice and clear. It's certainly not perfect, but I was very impressed by the rendition. Interference is both minor and infrequent. We're talking a just a touch of static in one or two isolated moments. Certainly one of the better renditions of BTB's that I've witnessed.
Cover (Ex+) These BTBs cover as so difficult to find in anything like decent condition. This one is getting close on to perfect. The front is shiny like a mirror with a couple of tiny thumbnail creases. The rear seems to have totally escaped the ageing process. Edge wear is super-light and the openings are still sharp. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains perfect rigidity. A pretty much perfect specimen. FINAL UPGRADE.
Inner (Vg+) No splits or markings. Just some light ageing.
