THE ROLLING STONES - 'BEGGARS BANQUET'
This great sounding UK 1st MONO press dates from initial December 1968 release on the unboxed red & silver Decca label: LK 4955
Matrix numbers: XARL 8476-4A & XARL 8477-2A
Stamper codes: 8,C/UA & 1/BA
The 'JT' purchase tax code is also present in each run-out

The disc is housed within an outer laminated 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono gatefold cover & original poly-lined inner-sleeve

A superb set with just a couple of tiny light spindle trails around each completely unworn centre hole.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Exceptionally clean deep-gloss playing surfaces which apart from a single light surface line which is mostly in the run-out on side 1 (visible in the image of the side 1 matrix number above) are unmarked in strong daylight. Even close examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp fails to reveal anything more than some harmless wispy paper hairlines consistent with careful inner-sleeve removal. The disc does have a very small edgewarp visible when playing, but this does not affect sound or play in any way.
Sound Quality: NEAR MINT
This wonderful sounding copy has clearly been barely played and all tracks play flawlessly with no trace of any background interference or groove/playwear distortion in either channel. My playcheck detected no ticks, clicks, pops or in deed any other noticeable audible distractions throughout.
Cover: VERY GOOD +
Clean & fully intact but with moderate storagewear & age-toning to the outer panels. There is some feathering to the rear opening edge and some shelfwear to the corners but both panels of the inside of the gatefold and clean with no writing or missing paper. The original price sticker ('38/6) is still adhered to the rear panel.
The spine is worn and has lost its laminate and the lettering is mostly worn. However all seams are smooth, unstressed & unsplit.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT -
