Overall Description

So here we have one of the rarest Rolling stones records out there!!

It is a first pressing of the Aftermath record, with an unboxed red Decca label and the rarest of rarest purple tinted shadow sleeve!!

The shadow to the aftermath text was limited to the very very first pressings of the sleeve and was quickly replaced with standard non-shadow text that we all know.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity as these you never see these super rare early prints!!

The record also has ridiculously low stampers 1 CU & 1 CI, and I think it’s safe to say this is one of the closest pressings you can get to that mother pressing!!

An incredible album, just look at the track line up!

Quite simply one of, if not THE very best Stones album EVER!!! This is magnificent, this is a masterpiece, and it's their first LP of 100% Jagger/Richards originals!!! Definitely one of my favourite LP's of all time, what makes it so amazing is that it contains pure magic!!! You can tell it's all from the same session, as each track has got a really distinct flavour- this was where the Stones went from being a great blues band, to true revolutionaries who helped guide rock music to where it is today!!!

Really this is Brian Jones's album; every track has his signature all over it. From his Dulcimer, through his Harpsichord, to his Sitar - this is his moment, the record he put his soul into.

Matrix and Stampers

The A at the end of the matrix refers to Guy Fletcher, and the B refers to Ron Mason.  These were the Decca engineers who oversaw the pressing of each side.

Outer Sleeve

The front laminated Robert Stace Ltd shadow sleeve is in great condition, especially considering its 45 year age! There is NO writing on the sleeve, No rips or tears, No stains. There is some slight laminate lift to the front, and some mild ring wear and some discolouring to the rear, as is common with unlaminated rears, there is also a small sticker removal to the top left.  Other than those minors, the sleeve is in splendid condition.  Even to find a first press in such good condition would be a rarity, but the VERY first WITHDRAWN press is a once in a lifetime opportunity!!  The spine is perfectly readable and straight and the rare shadow text sits perfectly with all the colour and sheen you would want from such a rare sleeve Very good+

Inner Sleeves

Original white with blue text inner has no rips or tears. A bit of mild folding and the slightest discolouring to one edge but otherwise in great condition! Excellent +

Labels

The iconic unboxed red Decca labels are in really nice condition, with no rips, tears or stains at all!!  Under a strong halogen bulb, you can see some faint spindle marks, but it is clear to see that this record has not been overplayed at all, which is such a rarity with any original Rolling Stones record!!  There is no writing at all  Excellent +

Vinyl Visual

By the naked eye there are no scratches to be seen at all.  The record looks great, it really does.   It still retains its wonderful factory pressed shine and lustre.  Under a strong halogen bulb, a few minor hairlines can be seen, and the occasional wisp of a removal mark, but none that can be felt and none that have any effect on playback at all.  It really is an astounding looking vinyl, that won’t disappoint The record is heavy and thick just like they used to make em! Excellent

Vinyl Audio

Listened to the record all the way through, and it sounds superb! There are no jumps or skips or sticking of any sort.  It plays through sublimely!!  I heard only one pop through the entire record!!  There was a little minor static between tracks, as is to be expected.  It’s such a strong clear audio, really punchy and sharp.   You really can hear the difference between a later pressing and these 1st pressing.  This is clearly the way to listen to the stones, in their purest form!! All the dynamics of the band are sharp and separable with no distortion on the heavier parts!!  Utterly Superb Excellent+

Overall

So there we have it, one of the rarest withdrawn Rolling Stones records available, housing one of the earliest first pressings out there, with super low stampers.

This is the closest you can get to the actual recording of the Rolling Stones, other than the master tape!!
