Description
This auction is for a Rolling Stone’s pirated rarity. A couple of individuals, back around 1969 or so, borrowed overnight from Bell Sound Studio in NYC, a 5 song ¼” reel to reel tape containing 5 UNRELEASED ROLLING STONES TRACKS . The tracks were:
“High Heel Sneakers”
“Stewed & Keefed”
“Tell Me Baby”
“Meet Me In The Bottom”
“Looking Tired”
At the time, with no indication of the actual titles, the names of the songs had to be deciphered from the lyrics and then, some years later when those tracks were released by the Stones label, one title was somewhat different…”Stewed & Keefed”, the blues instrumental, was called “Brian’s Blues”.
In any event at the time of this piracy a few (less than 5) of these 33 1/3 ACETATE LPs were run off at a now long-time defunct Brooklyn recording pressing studio called Rossi Sound. When the studio shut down I was helping clean it out and found one of the acetates with the label you see pasted on it. I put together a hodge-podge LP cover to contain it (see pic). Both sides of the acetate are identical. Both sides are in VERY GOOD condition.
I am told that another thing the pirate individuals did was to press up a few thousand and sell them at NYC record stores in the form of a 5 song 45 RPM that was called “Hot Rocks”, not to be confused with the much later released Stones big hits LP release on London Records entitled “Hot Rocks”…just a coincidence.
Anyway, that’s the best I can do to recreate the history of this rarity.
