Description
Up for bids is the Rolling Stones very first album "England's Newest Hit Makers: The Rolling Stones". This is the "Export" version, made in England but purchased in 1964 in Columbus, Ga when I was stationed at Ft. Benning.
There are so many of these that look alike, I will try to highlight the differences with plenty of photos so that bidders can tell exactly what they are bidding on.
The photo referred to on the album's front cover is not included. It was lost somewhere along the way during the last 51 years.
From the label: Made in England (purchased in GA) London ffrr (Full Frequency Range Recording) There is an "ear" on the end of the ffrr. LL.3375 ARL. 6291 (SIDE 1) ARL. 6292 (SIDE 2) The label appears red in the photos. It's really maroon, must be the camera flash.
Condition:
I played both sides of the record and it's plays as I remember it playing long ago. There were skips on 2 songs (side 1 / track 1 and side 2 / track 4, probably because I played these two songs more than any of the others. The skips went away after I cleaned the tracks.
This is a mono record. Bidders that are accustomed to stereo and especially digital stereo might not like the analog sound of mono. Over all, the sound quality is very good. It has some scratches, but not so much hiss that is common to old analog records. I used an old player. A good 33 1/3 player with a diamond stylus would get even better results.
The cover has a split along the bottom edge. The colors are a bit dull from being on a closet shelf for a very long time.
To summarize, digital recordings would sound much better and the cover is worn. However, the labels are in very good condition, near mint.
