Rolling Stones 12 x 5 LK 4438 Unboxed Blue Decca
Here we have one of the most curious and rarest stones records in existence!!
12 x 5 was the Rolling Stones first release primarily for the US. The first pressings of these were printed on a London blue and silver label, and are highly sort after in there own right.
There are some records that were pressed in the UK and exported, that are equally rare.
The Original 12 x 5 carried the catalogue number PS 402 and other variations on this for re-releases.
As you can see this copy of 12 x 5 carries the catalogue number LK 4438. This is a one-of-a-kind and completly original.
This is utterly unique and not registered on any archive out there (Trust me, try scouring the internet for hours upon hours and speaking to many Stones Specalists!!)
This record was sold to the African market, this was quite common of many 60s releases, but this is no export. It was pressed in Africa. In South Rhodesia. This is stated on the back of the outer sleeve with a sticker in the bottom left, but also stamped on both sides on the vinyl, as you can see in the pictures.
What is also amazing about this record is that the Decca symbol on the front of the cover has been printed on top a blacked out area that originally was marked with London. This is also evident on the catalogue number on the front by the mono. At frist, I thought this was a mock up of some sort, but the black out can also be seen in Hans Pokora Book of his rare record collection, here a link to view the only other copy of LK 4438 I have seen.

The matrix stamps are ARL 6493 and ARL 6494
The outer sleeve I would grade as VG+, there is a little spine wear, and scuffs to the corners as you can see in the pictures. The front is in really nice condition and the reverse has a little discoloring and some faded pen mark to upper left.
Vinyl A side: I Grade this a Ex+, with only slight hairlines, that do not effect play. the audio is nr mint
Vinyl B side: Ex, again slight hairlines and spindles under a halgen ight, but again plays nr mint

This is how I grade all my vinyl:
"MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler."
All vinyl is checked under a high wattage halogen bulb, and cleaned with a professional graded cleaner.
All grading is done with the upmost honesty, but I will offer a full 3 day refund if your really not happy with judgement
