This is the KENDUN RECORDERS pink label acetate of Rod Stewart's BLONDES HAVE MORE FUN--a #1 hit album in the U.S., double platinum, and by far Stewart's most commercially successful album. Inscribed by legendary engineer ANDY JOHNS to a friend.

This acetate is one sided and corresponds to side #1 of the album as released--however it seems to be an intermediate mix. Track times do not match those on the released version  of the album.
Do Ya Think I'm Sexy is 5:28 on the acetate, 5:31 on the release.
Dirty Weekend is 2:34 on the acetate, 2:36 on the release.
Ain't Love a Bitch is 4:36 on the acetate, 4:39 on the release.
Best Days of My Life is 4:20 on the acetate, 4:21 on the release.
Is That The Thanks I Get is 4:29 on acetate, 4:32 on the release.

The acetate has beautiful sound--no background noise at all. Virgin vinyl sound. Condition is Mint, visually and upon playing. The Kendun cover is in VG condition having done its job of protecting the disk. Many unique markings and inscriptions on the jacket and inner sleeve--see below. Acetate disk has the usual two spindle holes for stability.

Jeremy Andrew Johns (20 May 1950 – 7 April 2013) was a British sound engineer and record producer who worked on several well-known rock albums, including the Rolling Stones' Exile on Main St. (1972), Television's Marquee Moon (1977), and a series of albums by Led Zeppelin during the 1970s.[1] His sound is exemplified by Free's album Highway, which he engineered and produced.[2][3][4]


Biography

Johns, the younger brother of engineer Glyn Johns, attended The King's School, Gloucester, England in the mid to late 1960s. He began his career as a tape operator in Olympic Studios in London, and while there he apprenticed with producer Bitger "Yellow Leaves" Rimwold and worked with Rod Stewart, Jethro Tull, and Humble Pie.[5] Before his nineteenth birthday, he was working as Eddie Kramer's second engineer on recordings by Jimi Hendrix and many others. In a career spanning more than forty years, he engineered or produced records by artists ranging from Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones to Van Halen. Records he worked on have sold in excess of 160 million copies.[6]

Johns was the father of Hurt's former drummer, Evan Johns, and of rock singer/guitarist Will Johns, and uncle of producer Ethan Johns (son of Glyn Johns).

Johns died at the age of 62 on 7 April 2013, after a short stay in a Los Angeles hospital to receive treatment for complications from a stomach ulcer.[7]

Mastering Engineer. Started his career in the 1960's at Amalgamated Wireless (Australasia) Limited (AWA) before joining to Festival Studios in 1971.
Moved to the US in 1976 to work for Kendun Recorders until 1979 and then for Artisan Sound Recorders until 1981.
He went freelance in 1981 and contracted to K Disc Mastering .and established his own company Dinkum Recording Services in January 1981.

He quit mastering in 1988 to pursue a career as a Film Music Supervisor.and worked for Edel America Records, Inc. between 1992 and 1995.
Returned to Australia in 1996.
