Rockabilly Roy Orbison W. Rogers 45 Record Norman Petty Hear: So Long Good Luck and Goodbye Rare Promo Copy
Turn back the hands of time, and hang on tight for this fast-paced Rockabilly monster "So Long, Good Luck and Goodbye" recorded by Roy Orbison but credited to Weldon Rogers. This record is an ULTRA rare promo copy of Imperial X5451. The story behind this record is something of a legend. Supposedly on the way to Norman Petty's studio, this song was written by Weldon Rogers. Upon arrival at the studio Weldon recorded a handful of tracks for an upcoming release on Imperial. However, when the 45 rpm single was released...it featured a version of "So Long, Good Luck and Goodbye" that Roy Orbison had recorded. The label made no effort to correct this mistake and the rest is history.
This record has been given an overall grade VG to VG+ . This is a very nice record, with some very very light surface imperfections present on both sides. The "So Long, Good Luck and Goodbye" side is very clean and is a solid VG+, the flip side "Trying to Get to You" is similar but it also diplays a couple of slightly deeper scratches brings it down to a VG. There is some audible surface noise (pops & crackles) heard on the B Side of this recording when this record plays. Both sides have been added to the embedded auction player so that you may sample the sound quality first hand.
This is an investment grade record. A record that will only continue to grow in value. In these times of economic uncertainty, records such as this are a wise place to invest. Collector interest is growing by leaps and bounds and thus so are the end of auction record values. The price guides publishers are tuned in and are watching eBay and therefore are reflecting the bidding trends. In the past a "book value" was really just a range or guess at rarity. Now, with eBay, collectors have a better feel for what is truly rare and what isn't.

It was pointed out to me that my description of this record is in accurate. All these years I have had this muddled in my mind. Ok... To clarify..Roy Orbison performs on Trying to Get to You...not So Long Good Luck and Good Bye as I previously stated. It is Weldon Rogers who performs So Long Good Luck and Good Bye.
