Description
This is one copy of the legendary 1972 double album by The Band. I received two copies of the album from a friend at Capitol Records, hence the hole in the jacket (i.e., promotional). The package has not been opened and has been in my collection for 30+ years. Due to the tight-fitting shrink-wrap, the album appears to be almost perfect. I've never opened the package so I must believe that the quality is mint or near mint for the jacket, vinyl, and inner sleeves. The spine (see photo) appears to be like new.
This is the influential band who helped pioneer Americana, roots rock, country rock and heartland rock. The double-album Rock of Ages occupies an important place in the of pop/rock music history, and the history of The Band. Recorded at a spectacular New Years Eve 1971 gig, the show and album were intended to be a farewell of sorts before The Band took an extended break in 1972, but it turned out to be a last hurrah in many different ways. The Band closed the chapter on the first stage of their career, when they were one of the biggest and most important rock ‘n’ roll bands. The last four tracks, reportedly, feature Bob Dylan.
