Rarity: Very Rare This is the Last ever single Recorded and Released on the Polydor Label by Ringo. This sold in Very small numbers and Never charted anywhere. This is Easily one of his most Sought after and Elusive singles there to Locate and Collect. Brief Artist & Album/Single Info: "Tonight" is a Single from the Album "Bad Boy" which was the seventh studio album by Ringo Starr, released in 1978 during a period where his musical career was Sliding into Freefall after several years of solo success. Although Bad Boy was meant to Reverse this trend, Starr's fortunes Dwindled further. 

After the Critical and Commercial disaster of Ringo the 4th (1977), Starr and his musical partner, Vini Poncia, decided to create a Less campy album and streamline the sound to Lose the disco qualities and excesses that Marred the previous release. With Poncia taking the production reins, Starr mostly relies on Other people's songs, with No celebrity guests to be found. In November 1977, the album was recorded, for tax purposes, at Can-Base Studio in Vancouver, Toronto, and Elite Recording Studio in The Bahamas. It was completed within Ten days of sessions in November 1977, with the exception of some orchestral overdubs done on 8 March 1978 under the direction of James Newton Howard.

CONDITION

Labels: The Ploydor are Both in Superb condition with NO signs of Spindle Wear or Spider Marks to be seen. There are no Marks or Label Lifts anywhere. This record has Obviously been Very well cared for and Not played very Often. I have gone over them Several times and genuinely cannot find any Faults. I would easily grade these as these as Excellent +/Excellent ++!!!!

Vinyl: Plays throughout absolutely Brilliant, with no Pops, Clicks or Jumps. The record still contains that glossy sheen though there area couple of surface marks and thumbnails. However these in NO way interfere with the superb sound quality. This Single plays up to and  beyond its high visual grading with hardly anything of note to fault. It offers strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear – sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. A typical polished production from Vini Ponika. Minimal surface sound and no tracking issues. This play-grade proved a real pleasure when playing this fast disappearing single, this being the first example I have had for some time, and possibly the best all-round one for me yet. It will prove quite difficult to find a significantly better copy and merits a Very strong recommendation. I would grade both sides as Excellent/Excellent+!!!!

Cover/Sleeve: This is the correct Polydor paper sleeve issued with this Single. It is constructed of a very Flimsy paper and There are no Rips, Splits, Tears, Marks or Writing anywhere. Considering it is 40 Years old it has done Well to still be around at All, but this Genuinely is in Super condition with Not a Mark or Fault on it.  I would be happy enough to grade it as Excellent!!!!

Cover/Sleeve Summary: Not seen often, this one is in Beautiful condition with only Gentle clues of age, any blemishes are mostly light. This classic cover should (as described) please many collectors.

Single Played For Grading: I play/grade ALL records I offer before submitting, I also play them in their entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end. I use a Linn LP12 Sondek turntable with Ittok Mk II arm and Ortofon Quintet Black moving coil cartridge and Linn Lingo, with my Linn system and Forest Totem Speakers. This system is guaranteed  to pick up any distortion or interference within the sound.

Grading: In my opinion I REFUSE to believe that there is ANY record that can be truly graded as Mint; the BEST that could be offered is Mint- (minus)!!!! Especially so from the 50's, 60's, 70's or even up to the present date!!!! Even copies bought new today would have some form of imperfection on the Record or Cover!!!! Under that assumption I will NEVER use the word Mint in any of my descriptions and Mint- is the HIGHEST grade I would ever offer. So I will only from Excellent, Good or Poor with a -(minus), +(plus) or ++(plus, plus)!!!!
