Description
The overview of this Richard Strauss Opera Lot is fairly straightforward. Two of the top three pictured (“Daphne” & “Guntram”) are European marketed editions that don't usually wash up on U.S. shores. Well-recorded and performed. (The Holland pressing of “Guntram” is one of the best sounding CBS/Columbia “Masterworks” that I've ever heard.)
Pictured and listed in the middle, the 1963 DGG recording of “Die Frau Ohne Schatten”, is hard to find with vinyl in a NM state, although the box set container has seen better days.
The last three London/Decca recordings are certainly plentiful enough. But being common, doesn't mean they run-of-the mill. The London penchant for an excellent, balanced mix between orchestras and singers is evident in all three.
Each opera in this set has been auditioned from start to finish. The entire 18 LP collection is free of scratches and damage. The all play quietly and merit a NM grading.

The 52-old records a clean, lustrous black and play NM.
Back box set cover has brown scoffs (Picture #9). One corner of the front cover is split.
The spine is beginning to separate from the box (Picture #10). That said, front cover graphic is still in excellent shape.

Another 50 something pressing the plays clean and quiet. NM
There is minimal wear loss to the front graphic. The paper that attaches the back to front box set cover has come undone so that they are now two pieces (Picture #11). Nevertheless, the box cover still maintains its integrity.
The London/Decca stock libretto has gone missing. In its stead, I have enclosed a MET libretto for Salome (German to English) along with this box set.

The two LPs in this opera set appear lustrous and play clean and quiet. The box set front cover shows minimal wear, although the corners are beginning to show wear with one split.
The Production notes/libretto has the previous owner's name rubber-stamped in two places on the title page - not obnoxiously large (Picture #12).
Die Agyptische Helena (The Egyptian Helen) – Opera in Two Acts
