Description
If anyone could explain how an English recording first released on Columbia in the UK and US ended up on a US Angel tape, I'd be very grateful. Yes this did get released on HMV in the UK and HMV was part of EMI, which was the source of most of Angel's US releases, but it doesn't compute for me here.
Anyway this is Richard Strauss's Also Sprach Zarathustra performed by Lorin Maazel conducting the Philharmonia, a London orchestra, making a wonderful noise on this tape.
This is on Angel ZS 35994 and is recorded in 4 track stereo at 7 1/2 ips, highly sought after in fine condition on vinyl and I don't believe a properly tested copy of this tape has been on the market in the US for a number of years.
All tapes are play tested on one of my own tape decks before listing and I check for no signs of oxide shed during play or fast winding.
