Description
This is from a top of the market collection, comprising of just early stereo rarities on Decca HMV, UK Columbia & RCA. First labels issues in Near Mint condition to 99% of them, all described in detail with plenty of pictures. Includes many items rarely seen on ebay.
Before the Audiophile Chesky label started issuing these on CD, this was the audiophiles best kept secret, a complete Beethoven cycle by Leibovitz with the RPO that is thrilling as a set of performances from start to finish, in astonishingly good valve stereo big warm sound. If I had not had my own set for the past 20 years this would not be on offer. As a serious Beethoven fan, with many of the cycles on lp, this still remains my favourite.
1960 First year pressing of Uk RCA Readers Digest cloth box with gold stereo sticker & spine lettering of Rene Leibowitz in the Beethoven Symphony Cycle with numbers 1-9 over the seven lps. 1st Decca Press RCA with majority 1D1D stampers (with just 3x4D & 1X2D to the remaining sides), deep grooved red background gold lettered labels. There was no LSC or SB of these, they came out as a Readers Digest set like this for their first issue. Clean box, original booklet present, no spindle marks to most of it, and playing surfaces are pristine Near Mint. A decca pressing from the SXL 2000 era, with all the tube warmth and quality of mastering that implies. You will have a long wait to see another original stereo set this clean.
This records are not warped, labels are clean.
