Description

It's always a problem grading these lovely old SKA records.

They went to lots of parties.

That means that they're a bit battered and that's why many have names written on the label.

HOWEVER... they're usually cut VERY LOUD and though they look a bit rough, they sound OK (especially if you press the "Mono" button).

This means that a 60's Ska goodie can be perfectly acceptable, even if it looks R.A.A.B.B. (Rough As A Bear's Bottom)..

Please bear that in mind when reading my descriptions.

Here we have “Undying Love” by Ernest “Soul” Wilson and “Tropic Isle” by Soul Vendors on a useful clean UK COXSONE  45 rpm single CS 7059.

It was released in the UK in 1968.

“Undying Love” is a very desirable mid-tempo Rocksteady floor-filling tune by a rather overlooked artiste.

The other side is “Tropic Isle” by Soul Vendors (they were so cool that they didn’t need a definite article). This tune is a variation on “Spanish Eyes” but whenever it gets to the most recognizable bit, it deftly switches to “Indian Summer” from the old Richard Tauber 78. The organist is either Jackie Mittoo or someone sounding very like him.

CONDITION-WISE I’d rate it as somewhere round about VG.

Both sides play remarkably well (sounding much better than VG in fact) but they appear to have been kept in a box with a lot of other sleeveless records.  The disc plays through very cheerfully on my pretty darn good gear.

I guarantee (and you MUST believe me, because I’m from Yorkshire, and we never tell fibs) that you’ll be able to DJ with this disc and nobody will notice that it ain’t pristine.

You can hear somebody else’s copies of both tunes on You-Tube. Most are taken from CD, but one is from a 45 which sounds pretty much in the same condition as this one.

It is a five star smasheroonie.. fill your boots.

I am not a dealer.

I am just a very old bloke thinning out his lifetime collection of STUFF before the floor collapses (or I do).

I'm selling most of this stuff for much less

than I paid for it.

What a great business plan (I don't think)!

I am certainly NOT INTERESTED IN PROFIT..

..and indeed, seldom make any!

What little profit I do make goes to help

a very splendid Wildlife Rescue Charity.

The item in the photograph is the item you will get.

I have described everything to the best of my ability, and it looks in excellent condition to me.

Please check the photographs to decide for yourself.

NO OVERSEAS bidders please.

And NO OVERSEAS bidders using UK addresses please.

I am a simple sort, and I want my buyers to be happy. If there is any kind of problem, I like to sort it out personally. I can’t do this if you’re thousands of miles away!
