IVOR THE ENGINE DRIVER/THAT’S IT I QUIT

(AUSTRALIA, FESTIVAL FK1880, 1967)

 

 

Second solo single from Sydney singer Ray Brown after his successful tenure in the beat group ‘The Whispers’. An interesting release given that it’s a cover of an excerpt from Pete Townshend’s mini opera ‘A Quick One’. B side is a cover of the Sam Cooke early 60’s chesnut ‘That’s It I Quit’. An extremely listenable single, if a slightly odd release!

Not particularly successful chart wise, Brown eventually moved into country rock by the end of the 60’s fronting the group ‘Moonstone’.
