Rarest Copy WEEDS: Ten More Shopping Days (Till The Bomb)-Minority Song-U.S. 7".
I assure you this is the rarest copy of this record and I can follow it with a story. A few years ago I found the wildest stack of 45s I had ever seen at a swap meet in San Diego. It was bitter cold and at 5am. Bitter cold is a relative term, San Diego’s version of it happens to be about 42 degrees. I wasn’t supposed to be there that early and on that day but I couldn’t sleep and for the first time insomnia paid off. In the bag of 45s was 15 copies of the Weeds Ten more shopping days til the bomb. I couldn’t find any history of it, but I listened and I knew it was good. Great. Dark psychedelic rock and roll with the right dystopian jangle and raspy cigarette touched vocal. I don’t actually collect 45s. I love the music and get it to those who do, but I kept this one. This was before I was selling with any confidence or regularity on eBay and I had my friend list some. I traded a few. And over the years I’m down to two. My personal copy and this one oddball that was in with the 15 and it has an alternate label. The group decided to go under the name Blind Sister Edna and give a second writing credit out to Peterson. There is a different interstate label design. And instead of Edwards California it says Claremont California. It’s a paste over label and the b-side is still credited the same. But in the stack of 15, this was the only one like that. The song title was also shortened to 10 more shopping days. I do believe that I handled all the copies of this at some point that have circulated over the past few years and I’ve never seen another one like this. May be a one of a kind thing.
