Elvis Presley

“Having Fun With Elvis on Stage ”

1974 talking only LP

Mostly banter between Elvis and the audience, between tunes during Elvis concerts…

Voted by critics as the worst “rock” album ever released.

NO TUNES.

Plays VG (light clicks)

Here’s what I know about this record…it was the idea of Col. Parker to put out a record on his own label to profit from the endeavor without paying RCA.  He couldn’t put out any music, because RCA Victor had the rights to all music recordings.  So he put out this “talking only” LP.  It is mostly Elvis and banter with the audience between his tunes during his concerts.  Originally this LP was only sold at Elvis concerts.  But RCA objected.  It was determined that RCA did have the rights to these recordings, so RCA re-released it.

Now about this particular LP.  It is on the Boxcar label, which I assume is Col. Parker’s label.  There is an RCA specific inner sleeve that comes with it.  I am not certain that the particular inner sleeve that is with this record was originally with this particular record.  It has a hole dripped into it, while this particular record’s outer jacket does not have a hole drilled into it.  The catalog # on this inner sleeve is 21-112-1 PT 54D.  Of the records pictured on this sleeve, the latest is LPM-6402, released in 1976.  So this sleeve must come from at least two years after the record in this listing was released…1976 and suggests this particular record might be for an RCA record released 2 years after original production of this record.  Hence, I am not certain whether this is the original Col. Parker release or the RCA re-release and whether this inner sleeve belongs with the package.

There is no reference to RCA on either the actual outer jacket or record in this listing.  Just on the inner sleeve.  So I suspect the record might be the Col. Parker original release, but am not certain.

This is a decent playing record that is probably one of the rarer in Elvis’ catalog.  Perhaps only for Elvis “completists,” but here it is in an excellent jacket.  Low starting price.

GRADING:

I play grade everything.  I will DESCRIBE any cosmetic blemishes and their effect if any on play.

MINT (M) -  Unopened.  Assumed to play MINT.

NEAR MINT (NM) -  When I played it, I did not hear any extraneous sounds or there might have been a very, very light one or two.

VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+)  -  When I played it I heard a few light extraneous sounds.  None were overpowering.  Example: a few light clicks.

VERY GOOD (VG)  A record that has been handled and used more roughly than a VG+ record but still plays decently.  May have more than a few extraneous sounds but not so many and none so severe or repetitive as to substantially annoy the listener.

VERY GOOD MINUS (VG-) - Record plays through without skipping or repeating, but will have a substantial set of extraneous or repetitive sounds that might annoy even the casual listener.

GOOD (G) - Record plays through without skipping or repeating, but has so much extraneous noise that the music is substantial covered in noise.  In general only listed if the piece is of significant rarity to warrant collecting until a better piece is found.

FAIR to POOR - (F to P) - Record repeats, skips, is cracked, or so warped as to substantially effect listening pleasure.  (Records with F or P play grades will not be listed unless sold as a for craft use only).

Thank-you.
