Description
Offered for sale is a super rare promo copy of rock legend Robert Plant’s first single (released in 1967).
“Our Song” is backed by “Laughin’, Cryin’, Laughin’. (CBS 202656).
Matrix stamped: 5834 4/ 5835
Presented in its original orange and white CBS Records company sleeve, the disc, which was previously owned by a Midlands-based club DJ, has been enjoyed and does have some surface marks on both sides, but is still genuinely graded to be in very good to very good plus condition.
It plays through well on both sides although some minor crackles are audible early on and again in the run out on the A-side - remarkable for a demonstration copy nearing its 60th year!
Both labels are clean and sharp - no pen marks/names or stickers etc (please see photos).
This item was stored among a very large record collection and unplayed for at least the past 30-plus years! Professional cleaning would certainly improve its condition further.
This was the first of Plant’s 1967 singles recorded for CBS - all of which failed to dent the charts! Within a year however, he had been invited by Jimmy Page to join the New Yardbirds, soon to be known as Led Zeppelin… the rest is history.
