SOUND FARM STUDIOS NR7185
T.R. Crooks (Tennessee River Crooks)
To A Brother
Incredibly rare and good private press psych LP recorded at the Sound Farm studio in small town Puryear, Tennesee in 1976. Killer guitars and tight music. I found virtually no information on this band or LP except for guitarist Jimmy Stewart mentioning forming the band on his myspace page. Be sure to listen to the clips I recorded of "Farmin' Man", "We Are All Brothers" and "Tennessee Land". Much like early Allman Brothers jams with an excellent vocalist who sounds at times like Paul Rodgers and Steve Miller. I have never seen this record appear for sale anywhere for the last 10 years, so now is the time to discover this lost gem.
The high gloss vinyl looks near mint and unplayed with no marks or scuffs, but unfortunately, there is a bad warp that causes the stylus to move left to right, like the record had been semi-melted. However, by adjusting my tone arm to a heavier weight, I was able to record the LP in its entirety with no skips or jumps and the playback was smooth. There is a swish noise that gradually fades as the record plays towards the end of each side, and is really only noticeable in the fade-ins and outs of each track and drowned out while the music is playing on most tracks. I will include a CD-R of the entire LP with the record in case your turntable cannot play it back. I was actually amazed that I could record it because of the abrupt jerking of the needle tracking left and right as it read the grooves. You will hear the swish noise in the recordings I made that weren't enhanced or modified in any way.
The labels are excellent on both sides with no spindle trails or damage. The cover is near mint with barely a trace of wear, strong corners and no splits. This is really a great LP with original songs and every one of them is excellent. Here are the tracks on the LP:
Side One - 1. Waiting For A Better Day 2. Song For David 3. Farmin' Man 4. We Are All Brothers Side Two - 1. White Lighting 2. Old Music 3. Tennessee Land 4. Life On The Road 5. Hot Busch
(NOTE: The track "White Lightning" is an original song and not a George Jones hit. No country songs here!)
I offer a discount on shipping for winners of multiple items within the same listing period (up to 5 records), so if you win more than one item please wait for my invoice which will reflect the proper adjusted amount before making your payment.
