NORTHERN SOUL AUCTION
ARTIST: THE O'KAYSIONS TITLE: "TWENTY FOUR HOURS FROM TULSA"/"COLORS" LABEL: ABC 45-11207 CONDITION: VERY GOOD+
OK, this is a weird story. I was recently researching Burt Bacharach and Hal David cover versions and I found this unbelievable Northern Soul soul version of their classic, "Twenty Four Hours From Tulsa". Even weirder is that it's by a KNOWN Northern Soul group, the O'Kaysions, who had a huge monster with "Girl Watcher" on ABC.
Even weirder is, despite it's brilliance, it's both rare and virtually unknown! It was the last O'Kaysions record on ABC, got lost in the late 60s and has never even made it onto any compilations since. It's about as pure a Northern Soul record as you will ever get and quite simply an incredible version of a great song. It has all the requisite ingredients plus a false-ending to add to the excitement! A monster of a record just waiting to become huge if it gets into the right hands!
