Description
This auction is for a 1950s Various Artists Lp titled Herald The Beat. It was released in the late '50s or possibly early 1960 on Herald Records and this had the less common and rarer Herald Black Label, unlike Herald's later LPs that were issues on a solid Yellow Label and Multi-Color label. The groups and performers on the LP are: The Nutmegs, The Mello Kings, The Turbans, Tommy Ridgley, Faye Adams, Charlie And Ray, and Al Savage. The cover is in G+ condition and rated this way as the seams are all taped and the top and bottom seam has wider tape on them. The front cover which has a glossy laminate actually shows pretty decent. The back cover has some wear and there is discoloration and spots under the tape on the top and bottom seam. The record is graded visually as Fair+ to possibly Good - as there are numerous light marks and a few that are somewhat feelable on both sides. I've played this and it actually plays much better than expected on both sides and the sound is pretty good. I would usually pass on a record in this condition but I hadn't seen this LP before and it took me a good 20 years to find another copy that was a bit better but I was pleasantly surprised when I did play this copy.
