Rare Riverside Copy!!- read on ! The Thelonious Monk Orchestra At Town hall - 1959 Vinyl mono released by Riverside first copy is rpl12 300 - YES! That’s the jacket - but Not the album ! The album is stereo RLP 1138 -

This must have been first or one of first transition albums from mono to stereo in 1959 - before they redid graphics on jacket for stereo. This is the 300 mono cover WITH a Tiny ‘stereo’ sticker placed right above the N at the top - that is only indifference ! The cover in Good condition with few minor dings is NOT the RPL 1138 Stereo release cover!! The 1138 cover has stereo labeled down the side . It is the RLp12 -300 mono cover for the 1138 ( first stereo version) . Probably had vinyl ready to go but new cover not finished so they sent it out with a sticker ! So , best of both worlds first Mono cover with first stereo vinyl . Monks happy . :) vinyl nm condition looks as if never played . Everyone needs Monk ! And this has a little story I’m sure about that sticker and timing of transfer with art and record production . Happy bidding !
