Description
Up for auction is a rare early 1930s Blues Race 78 by Cannon's Jug Stompers. They are known as one of the greatest Jug Bands in history.Their 78s are extremely hard to find. The band consists of Gus Cannon on Banjo, Hosea Woods on Kazoo,Noah Lewis on Harmonica, Vocals, Jug and Ashley Thompson on Guitar. This 78 is on the Buff Bluebird label # 5030.The songs are titled Viola Lee Blues and has Minglewood Blues on the other side. Both of these songs were later recorded by The Grateful Dead. The Viola Lee Blues side has about 25 to 30 small very light to light scratches. Also has 3 small scratches I can feel with fingernail. This side also has some scuffing but still looks very nice.Looks to also have about 10 very small groove pit marks.Label in Gorgeous condition. The Minglewood Blues side looks to have about 15 to 20 extremely light to light scratches with 2 very small scratches I can lightly feel with fingernail. This side has 6 very small groove dig spots or groove wear spots which I consider light as they do not affect play at all and is mostly near beginning of song. They almost look like groove pit marks but are a bit longer. There is also 3 light circular needle markings which go which start on middle of song. They are little tiny light dots and they go and form a circle of light tiny dots around nearly 3 revolutions. This side also has some scuffing. Both sides have alot of groove wear but both sides still have alot of shine. No cracks no chips at all. This record really is a Beautiful looking record even though the description may sound otherwise.Plays Fantastic. Both songs are really Outstanding on this 78.The Viola Lee Blues side plays absolutely Beautifully with a light background hiss when treble is adjusted halfway.Extremely light background hiss when treble is low.Outstanding song really plays fantastic and loud. The Minglewood Blues side plays Beautifully also with a light background hiss when treble is adjusted halfway.Very light background hiss when treble is low.Has a few light ticks but plays Wonderfully.Really an outstanding 78 which I know I'll regret selling someday. If the buyer is not 100% satisfied I have a return for refund policy on all records I sell.I'll be listing several other mid 1920s to the early 1930s 78s over the next several weeks. Please check other auctions if interested. Please E Mail for shipping prices.
