DICK FARINA & ERIC VON SCHMIDT (Blind Boy Grunt Credit)
(Rare UK Only MONO Original on Folklore, # F-LEUT/7 from 1963)
Label/Sleeve -> Laminated Sleeve (both Front and Back) printed in England by West Brothers Printers Limited, Mitcham.
Grade (Cover/Vinyl) -> VG++ /VG++
Description -> The vinyl looks clean and plays with terrific fidelity and with light background sound which doesn’t come in the way of listening pleasure. Just some Paper sleeve marks visible under lights on the surface. A rarity and difficult to find in any shape. The cover has some handling wear, laminate creasing (see picture front right bottom corner) and laminate air gap on the front and slightly at the back along the spine(See Picture). In January 1963, Richard Farina and Eric Von Schmidt, both noted performers of the early-'60s folk revival, teamed up to cut an album (titled Dick Farina & Eric Von Schmidt) at Dobell's record shop in London. The LP was not issued until 1967 (and then only in the U.K. and not issued since).
The record is a highly sought-after collectible for a reason that has little to do with the principal performers: Blind Boy Grunt, a pseudonym for Bob Dylan plays backup harmonica and adds some backup vocals to a few of the tracks. Ethan Signer, of the Original Charles River Valley Boys, also plays on the album.
