On offer here is an incredibly rare and highly collectible MONO 1st press copy of the Beatles' double LP 'The White Album' on the Apple label! Not only that, but this is COMPLETE with the poster, 4 portraits and black sygar-paper inner sleeves, all in a great condition!!

The white album is a collection of songs that the group wrote whilst out in India during their time with the Maharishi Yogi. It's proper name is 'The Beatles' which is kind of ironic since this was their most individual work to date. The songs included are fantastic and features music from every member - even Ringo! It's reguarly cited as one of the best Beatles LPs and contains a vast range of musical styles.

In 1968 the mono format was quickly dying, getting killed off by cheaper stereo record players and the price of stereo records coming down to match their mono counterparts. In 1968 hardly any mono copies of albums sold and by 1969 the format was abandoned altogether.

Today it is incredibly hard to find a decent, complete mono white album. It's distinction is that it's the last Beatles LP to be mixed into true mono (Yellow Submarine was just a re-channeling of the two stereo tracks down into one) and the majority of the songs are mixed differently to the well known stereo mixes. The most blatant is the song 'Helter Skelter' which doesn't feature the additional ending and Ringo shouting "I've got blisters on my fingers!" making the mono versio almost a minute shorter! Another blatant difference is the song 'Don't Pass Me By' which features a different violin part and was actually mastered at a faster speed than the mono so that Ringo sounds like he's on helium!

All in all this is a great copy of this very rare and mega-collectible LP. The pictures are the original 1968 photos on the heavy stock paper, and the poster is the unlaminated original as well. Both inner sleeves are the one-label showing black sugar-paper kind and the sleeve is the original top-opener! Don't miss this opportunity to get a decent copy of this incredible album!

. VG+ This sleeve is holding up nicely for its age but does have a little wear and tear. The front cover is lovely and white with no real yellowing with age or anything. There's a few slightly darker spots around the embossed title but these are pretty insiginifigant. there are a few light creases around the edges and some light wear and creasing along the top at the mouthedge. The spine looks like it's been creased in the middle and the spinetext has been lost inside. There's also a little wear but no splits. The back cover is pretty much just like the front but with no spots of discolouration or anything. There is also no 'stereo' mark at the top right indicating that this is indeed a mono sleeve. The inner sleeve is lovely and clean with some light creasing around the mouthedge and some light wear down the overflaps. Overall the sleeve is holding up really nicely for its age!   The Front Cover   The Back Cover   The Gatefold   .

2:VG+ The first disc has a lovely shine to it and the playing surface has a fair amount of light, faint scuffs but nothing heavier. The disc plays through with a lovely, clear sound although a couple of the tracks do sound like they've been played a bit more and have a very slight distortion on them (Back in the USSR). There are also a couple of light clicks in places but these are pretty insigifigant. Overall this is a really nice copy!

Again, the second disc has a lovely shine to it and the playing surface has a fair amount of light scuffs but nothing heavier. The disc plays through with an awesome clarity although again a couple of the tracks sound like they've been a bit more seperately and as such have a little distortion to them (Goodnight). There are also a few little, faint clicks in places but again these are insigifigant. Overall this is a really nice copy!

. EX- All four labels are clean, crisp and clear with no wear or tear or writing. All four have some light spindlewear and a very light whitening around the centerhole. The side 1 label also appears to have a small crack or crease at the bottom but to me this looks like it occured during production. Overall the labels are looking really nice!   Side 1   Side 2         Side 3   Side 4   .
.   Both black inner sleeves are included and are in a nice EX- condition. No seam splits and a little creasing at the edges. There's also some light wear at the mouthedge and a few tiny tears around the labelhole but nothing serious.   The number on the sleeve.         All four portrait photos are immaculate with no creases or marks. NM!   The poster is in an amazing condition with no stains or markings at all! The seams are holding tight with only a little fraying at the edges and there are no tears at all. Refunds
Everybody's grading is different; one persons NM might be another persons VG. If you are at all unhappy with the record then please email me and let me know for a full refund plus the postage cost to get it back to me. The record must get back to me in the exact same condition it left however else this offer is void.

Insurance
All items sent within the UK are sent Recorded Delivery as standard. If a record sells highly I'll put up the option for special delivery in case you which to have it sent in this way. All LPs are sent overseas to places outside the UK are sent uninsured as standard small packet airmail. If you live outside the UK and win a record for a lot of money it is highly recommended that insurance is paid for - the option will be there in the invoice I'll send after the auction ends. If no insurance is taken and the LP is lost in transit there is sadly very little, if anything I can do.

Items Lost in the Mail
If your LP hasn't gotten to you and you're at all worried then please don't hesitate to get in touch so that it can be sorted out. Most likely it's just because I haven't been able to get to the post office due to work commitments. If however it has been posted out and not arrived then I will do everything I can to chase it up and try and find it again. Every record sent within the UK is sent recorded delivery so if it does go walkies there's always that to fall back on and chase up. Unless otherwise requested or paid for all overseas items are sent standard airmail so if they disappear there is very little, if anything I can do. I collect proof of purchase with every item I post.

Items Damaged in the Mail
I professionally pack all of my records between strong 12" corrugated stiffeners and sent in a sturdy cardboard LP mailing envelope for full protection whilst in transit. In all my years of buying and selling on eBay only one record I have sent out has arrived broken at its destination (and that was only because the postman obviously couldn't read the large 'FRAGILE' and 'DO NOT BEND' marks on it as he folded it up to put through the letterbox!!). Since the fault of the breakage lies with the postal service your best bet is to tackle them about the problem. I'll help any way I can.

The grading system I use when determining the condition of my vinyl
The 'Record Collectors' Grading System.
Taken from the Rare Record Price Guide book   Mint (M) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertisied as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. Near Mint (NM) The record looks brand new with no scuffing or any deterioration in sound quality and only the smallest hint that its ever been played. The cover and any additional extras are clean, crisp and with no wear whatsoever. Excellent (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. Very Good (VG) The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. Good (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc. Fair (F) The record is still just about playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. Poor (P) The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing. Bad (B) The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
