RUTHERFORD CHANG - WE BUY WHITE ALBUMS
This artist edition is now sold out and very hard to find and has been featured in the New York Times, Wired and Dust and Grooves. Double record documenting artist Rutherford Chang's ongoing project, We Buy White Albums. In January 2013 Chang set up a 'store' inside NYC, Recess Art Gallery, encouraging visitors to sell him first pressings of the White Album. He continues this process at various venues. To date, Chang has collected almost 1000 copies. This record was created by layering 100 unique copies of The Beatles' White Album on top of each other. The packaging in a gatefold jacket with artwork composited from the same 100 original records, and includes a 24" × 24" poster featuring the 100 original individual covers used for the jacket artwork.
