Description
In 1978, rock and roll legends Rush released their sixth studio album. Calling it 'Hemispheres', the cover's artwork raised a few eyebrows due to a naked man on a brain, with another man in a top hat in the background. That's no full frontal nudity, so that's maybe that's what didn't get this banned on a massive scale. Hugh Syme, who designed several Rush covers, did the artwork for this cover.
The album contains long progressive rock songs, and lyrics dealing with science fiction and fantasy. Rush even had a couple of (shorter) singles on here: "The Trees" and "Circumstances", as well as a TWELVE part nine minute instrumental song! ("La Villa Strangiato") I definitely remember hearing "The Trees" on rock radio in the late 70s and early 80s...
In 2018, and to celebrate the FORTIETH anniversary of this rock and roll masterpiece, Rush released this on a special Record Store Day picture disc LP! They kept the same artwork, with a couple of subtle differences. The pic is maybe larger, and closer. The title and band name is larger. And that's about it! Same pic on side 1 as on side 2. Just like the original. This also comes in a die-cut sleeve, (just like the original)! And the best part? This thing is STILL SEALED and NEVER OPENED or PLAYED! Brand new, factory sealed Rush picture disc vinyl LP...thank you, may I have another!?
Ask, and ye shall receive! I'll also add the anniversary picture disc LP of Rush's 1982 album 'Signals', reissued in 2022, to celebrate that great album's FORTY years since the original release! They use the great Hugh Syme's talents here, and it's a re-imagining of the 80s release. The dalmatian dog is on both sides, but he's really small on the A side, and getting ready to relieve himself on the B side! Bought new, from the online Rush store, and never opened, or taken out, or played! It was never sealed, but rest assured, this has never seen a stylus (so be gentle, and let them get to know one another first)!
TWO new and never played Rush picture disc LPs, and at a really nice price. Don't sleep on this one, as Rush merch goes quick! The fans love their Rush collectibles (and I know this, because I'm one of them!), and these are a couple of sweet vinyl records to have, play, or display. The choice is yours!
