Description

'Rubber Soul' - The Beatles - 12" inch vinyl mono LP (33 1/3 rpm)  'Loud' – Parlophone - PMC 1267  - 1st pressing             #cr#

Description

      • 12 inch, mono LP, 33 1/3 rpm
      • The album was originally issued in 1965 on the Parlophone label
      • This copy appears to be the original 1st pressing - the supposed 'Loud' version. The matrix marks are XEX 579-1 / XEX 580-1. Black label with yellow logo and silver print. The font is 'sans-serif' and the '*' credit indicator is space away from the song title. I don't have a non-'loud' version to compare against and our equipment isn't particularly sophisticated. So I can't really attest to how it sounds, other than it sounds a bit 'brittle' to my ears rather than loud.
      • This is the sixth studio album from the band and is produced, once again, by George Martin

    •  Track listing:
    • Side 1:-  Drive My Car; Norwegian Wood; You Won't See Me; Nowhere Man; Think For Yourself; The Word; Michelle
    • Side 2:- What Goes On; Girl; I'm Looking Through You; In My Life; Wait; If I Needed Someone: Run For Your Life
  • All tracks were written by Lennon & McCartney, apart from 'Think for Yourself' and 'If I Needed Someone' both by George Harrison
  • Additional musicians:- George Martin - harmonium on 'The Word' and Mal Evans - Hammond organ on 'You Won't See Me'
  • Engineered by Norman 'Hurricane' Smith
  • Recorded between 12th October–15th November, 1965 at EMI (Abbey Road) Studios, London
  • Laminated cover with rear flipbacks.
          • The front cover features a colour photo by Bob Freeman and the album title in psychedelic-style lettering. This was the first album not to feature the band's name on the front.
          • Track listing and credits on the back with further black & white photos of the band members by Bob Freeman
          • White, paper, EMI inner sleeve, with record care instructions etc.
          • Catalogue number PMC 1267
          • Matrix marks:- A side: XEX 579-1 (stamped)
            •                         B side: XEX 580-1 (stamped)

            Condition

            • The record itself appears to be in excellent condition, there appear to be no obvious marks or scratches and no signs of warping. Plays very well, with no pops or crackles although there is some surface noise.
            • The outer sleeve has some edge wear and marks but is completely intact (see photos)
            • The inner sleeve has a couple of faint stains with some slight creases. There is a 2-3 inch slit on both sides and the bottom  (see photos)
            • Based on the guidelines of the Record Collectors Guild, I would say this record is 'Very Good +' (www.recordcollectorsguild.org)
