Label Conditions: Both very clean, fresh and highly attractive with only two or three light and faint spindle marks each side and without doubt, hardly played.

Warps: Assume all records I offer have no warping of any significance and all tracking is easy and effortless and should play on all turntables and even ‘budget’ decks.

Brief Info: The ultimate solo album from one of rocks most talented musicians. Wood composes, sings and plays everything within this brilliant Harvest album. A very mixed bag in material with all styles covered, this man, formerly of The Move and ELO has many strings to his bow and seems to be able to play anything. Beautifully packaged too and this copy does it full justice – by some great distance the best example I have seen for ages. Check out this stunning cover again, have you ever seen one much better? One for the Harvest connoisseur collector and few survive like this. The record has flawless sound too and clearly has hardly ever been played.

Cover Grade and Format: MINT(-): a real beauty. An unlaminated gatefold format with matt and full texturing on all surfaces. Printed and made in England by Garrod & Lofthouse.

Cover Front: I am truly struggling to find a noteworthy mark or blemish on what is a near reference standard cover that looks very close to factory-fresh. This retains a beautiful white finish and unusual freshness with no scuffs or noteworthy blemishes even under light. What a truly beautiful Harvest cover this is. The coloured Roy hair is pristine and any just a mere couple of super-fine and faint hairline creases on the spine edge (but look hard).

Cover Back: One of the most dramatic poses ever put on a cover in my humble opinion – Wood means business with his cello here. A work of photographic art and looking sublime on this incredible example. The white areas are still just that, white. The black areas are pristine too with not even at trace of rubbing or ink-loss on the fragile textured surface that remains totally unspeckled. Not even a hint of rim impression either and no ring wear. This reminds of new.

Cover Inner Gatefold: Both inner faces are as made, I can hardly believe this cover, it’s one time has forgotten. All texturing pristine again.

Top Edges: Both as made: incredibly white and clean, also very straight too.

Bottom Edges: Practically as above, any rub traces on the black are smaller than minuscule.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Clean, most-all razor sharp with just a trace of thickening near the very top of the back (being critical). Record enters on the back edge, the front being closed, both guaranteed untrimmed.

Spine and Text: Solid and thick, straight with no real compression and folded almost square, so the edges meet up closely and near parallel. All text is perfect and unworn and this is as clean as when made, the text being very black, bold and sharp as seen on my picture. Both folds unworn too.

Corners: Any tip rubs are tiny and faint and all retain better than excellent to near mint shape.

Cover Summary: A very impressive all-round example of this very fragile and wear-prone early 70’s cover, one that will prove near impossible to find much better. Finding one as such may deceive into thinking this is normal, but hardly the case. With extremes in white and black, these are rarely found so unworn and this will please most-all collectors.

The Inner Sleeve: EXCELLENT(++): a plain white, unlined inner that has just light traces of darkening, hence downgraded from Mint(-) accordingly. There is little else to fault.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: MINT(-): a super visual copy that is very clean, shiny, intense black and very solidly pressed. A copy hardly even played on all the evidence with any surface traces tiny, very few and faint as seen right up close under bright angled light. Visually a lovely record that should please most-all collectors again.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or miniscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This outstanding record plays up to it’s high visual grading with nothing to fault. Strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is very impresisve with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. Devoid of any noteworthy surface sounds and no pops or clicks were noted and this is an exceptional clean pressing for a fairly challenging album. A host of different instruments are featured and all are focused, sharp and precise with no pressing sounds or distortions. Few copies will match or outperform this early pressing I feel sure. Both channels are clean and sharp, I am certain this record has been played very lightly and has been clearly well stored and carefully handled, almost certainly in a non-smoking environment. Nothing spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this wonderful record. This disc, like the cover will prove very difficult to find better and can be strongly recommended.

The record’s cover will be placed within a BRAND NEW soft protective sleeve and the actual record will be professionally cleaned on my new VPI-17 Pro vacuum system to give ultimate clean grooves and playing surfaces and the best possible looks and ultimate sound quality. You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. All records are posted in professional boxes (NOT Mailers, these do not offer any real protection). The record(s) are REMOVED from their main cover to avoid edge splits and placed within a brand new polylined inner. The record’s original inner will be included if available. SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
