Info: Extremely rare genuine original UK pressing LP, which doesn't come up for sale very often!

Comes in original fully laminated picture sleeve and has original plain white die-cut paper inner sleeve.

Matrix numbers stamped in the run-off grooves are JHL 105 + A and JHL 105 + B

"SOPHISTICATED BEGGAR is Roy Harper's first album, and although it's almost by necessity a bit weak and tentative in comparison to more fully-realised later efforts like FLAT BAROQUE AND BERSERK or STORMCOCK, it's nonetheless a remarkable debut. Entirely acoustic, with none of the rock influence so important to his later work, this is Harper's folkiest album, and his trademark acoustic 12-string sounds terrific in these stripped-down surroundings. The songs already show flashes of the humour, bile and quirkiness of later Harper albums, and tunes like the tender "My Friend" and the howling "Committed" reveal the songwriting paths Harper would take in the future. All in all, SOPHISTICATED BEGGAR is that rarity, a debut album that doesn't deserve to be repudiated by its maker."

Vinyl in very good condition with a small amount of light surface marks and some faint needle wear lines in places. The only fault is a tiny scratch on the first track of side 1, which causes three small skips and a couple of slight clicks near the end of the song. Rest of record plays through fine with just slight background noise which isn't really noticeable most of the time; just in quiet sections and in between tracks, and even then it isn't all that bad and nowhere near overpowering. So still for the most part an acceptable copy and side 2 is more like very good+ condition.
Labels are clean with just mild wear on the edge of the centre hole and an average amount of faint spindle marks on both sides.
Sleeve in very good condition with just average general wear and no visible writing or stickers. Very light ringwear on both sides but very little discolouring on (white) front, and only a handful of minor creases. Top and bottom spines are in shape with no splits. Main spine looks slightly flattened with a couple of small creases. Corners are a bit scuffed but not badly. Has "J115" written on the inside of the opening edge. Looks used but still well acceptable!
Inner sleeve in very good condition with average general handling/age wear and one very small split in one of the side edges. Written in the corner on one side is "J 115 Roy".

So all in all not a bad copy of this legendary original issue album - who knows when you might see another for sale?!!
