There are two sessions on this first recording date of Roy Ayers. The first session, recorded in LA on June 14, 1963 features Roy Ayers on vibes, Curtis Amy on alto and tenor, Jack Wilson on piano, Bill Plummer on bass and Tony Bazley on drums. The perform: SOUND AND SENSE; OUTA SIGHT; RICARDO’S DILEMMA; REGGIE OF CHESTER; YOUNG AND FOOLISH and HOMEWARD BOUND. The second session, recorded on June 18, 1963 features Roy Ayers accompanied by Jack Wilson on piano, Victor Gaskin on bass and Kenny Dennis on drums. Their selections are: IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU; THE DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES; ROMEO; DONNA LEE and WELL, YOU NEEDN’T. This is a Mono recording.
I graded this LP as M- for the following reasons. Both sides of the vinyl are clean of any marks. There is no sign of any wear in and around the spindle hole. It comes in its original sleeve. The record cover is in excellent condition, with no sign of wear. There is a “NR” stamped on the upper right corner.
