Description

Rolling Stones : Voodoo Lounge A1/B1/C1/D1
This first pressing is a wonderful example of its kind and rarely seen in this condition.  Not often seen at all if truth be told!  As it was only pressed in limited numbers it is becoming increasingly difficult to find one like this.  As detailed below the audio is immaculate accept for a minimal amount of interference on S4 and as per every album I sell I have listened to every second of every track in order to provide a comprehensive grading.  The audio is superb!
The gatefold is in sublime condition and is 'shop fresh' unbelievably with no shelf wear at all and the lyric inners are in perfect order also.  It also has the original sticker on the front which is so often missing.
An interesting point of note - the S2 label is also on S1.  A miss-pressing although I do not know how common this is.

Visual grading
The vinyls are visually stunning and there are no scratches or markings at all.  They have a beautiful glossy sheen and all I can detect are a couple of faint hairlines on the first three sides no doubt caused by sleeve removal.  S4 does have a few more hairlines but they are not immediately obvious and do not affect the immaculate quality of the audio in any way.  I would not be surprised if they were actually caused during the manufacture of the records.  There is minimal spindle wear, just a couple of very small faint traces on S3 & 4 and only a little more on S1 & 2.  The labels and run out grooves are also super clean.  Overall this is a stunning example of this album and is a 'high end' version without doubt.
Play grading
From the very first groove 'Love Is Strong' plays with wonderful depth and what is instantly obvious is just how strong the bass is which is interesting as this is the first album without Wyman.  With only a couple of mega light static sounds on the intro this track easily qualifies as Mint- the playback is stunning and the minus is only used because the album isn't sealed!  'You Got Me Rocking' quite simply plays 'as new' as there is no 'background' of any kind not even on the fade out and then  'Sparks Will Fly' is also equal to this and ends S1 with incredible power and clarity.  There is no need to elaborate here, this track just plays with perfect audio in every way.
'The Worst' is of course the first quiet acoustic number on the album and I'm pleased to say it plays with superb clarity.  There are only 3/4 seconds of very light static on the intro and a couple of mega light static ticks towards the end but they are totally non-intrusive.  The playback could scarcely be any clearer and the 'fiddle' fade is a prime example of that as there is not even a single dust tick!  It is so obvious this record has been hardly played and whilst this maybe one of the Stones' later albums it's easy to forget it's now 25 years old!  Thus far the audio is of a quality you rarely find on this highly collectable album.  'New Faces' keeps up the standard and plays with perfect clarity and definition with no interference whatsoever.  'Moon Is Up' is Mint- from start to finish and the piano intro on 'Out Of Tears' is 100% sublime.  Vinyl is not a forgiving medium and yet there is no 'background' at all, it is audio perfection!  Thereafter it plays with stunning depth and such a strong bass sound again.  This is audio of the highest standard and I am just awestruck by the quality on offer.  Once more the fade out is just so precise.  Wow!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'I Go Wild' plays loud and true and is the reason why you shouldn't listen to this on CD!  You just don't get the same depth and warmth that you do on vinyl.  The definition of the audio is awesome and you can hear each note so clearly.  Forget the minus this is pure unadulterated Mint audio from start to finish!  I have never heard better.  'Brand New Car' has no interference and plays 'as new' throughout and the same can be said for 'Sweethearts Together' which is impressive as it is is a relatively quiet track.  Another Mint intro and fade out as if it needs to be said!  'Suck On The Jugular' plays with tremendous depth and power and again...no 'background'.  A sublime end to the side.
The classic 'Blinded By Rainbows' plays incredibly well but for the first time on the album does have intermittent light static on the quiet intro but the music still comes across very clearly and it does not intrude on the audio.  It remains very impressive intro with no clicks or pops.  The first chorus plays with wonderful sonic quality and the next 'quiet' verse has only 3/4 light static sounds.  From then on the audio is 'as new' with no interference at all.  This is a stunning version of this track and as I say the 'background' on the intro is only minimal.  'Baby Break It Down' has one click as the track starts and then plays with great clarity and power and no yep no interference for the remainder.  The super quiet intro on 'Thru And Thru' is so impressive, the clarity could scarcely be any better and there are only a couple of very quiet dust ticks.  As Richard's vocal comes in the quality does not diminish.  For any final track to plays this clearly is a rarity and especially one as quiet as this.  There is only a small number of dust ticks and quite frankly there is no intrusive 'background' of any kind from beginning to end.  A fantastic end to the album.
In summary this rare double album is a FINAL UPGRADE ARCHIVE first pressing without question.  Of course this album was only pressed in limited numbers in the 90s so getting hold of a 'top quality' one is not easy and not at this start price!  Aside from minimal (very minimal!) interference on S4 the audio is of the highest calibre and together with a stunning gatefold and perfect lyric inners this is stunning 'package' that will add to any collection.
The Gatefold
This is a stunning example of this glossy cover and is in pristine condition throughout.  The edges and wide spine are 'as new' and the opening edges have no handling wear at all.  There are no markings anywhere and it also includes the rare sticker on the front cover.  A perfect, immaculate cover in every way!
Lyric Inners
These are also in superb condition with no splits or markings to be seen.  They are 'shop fresh' and in Mint condition.
The Labels
They are in superb condition with no marking/writing and barely any spindle wear, just a couple of mega tiny spindle traces on each.  As stated there is a miss-pressing as the S2 labels are on both sides of the first record.
