THE ROLLING STONES - THEIR SATANIC MAJESTIES REQUEST

A very nice copy of this increasingly hard to find 1967 UK early press Stones' classic - still a great listen

Year/Label : 1967 UK DECCA  Label number : TXL.103 Matrix numbers :  ARL-8126-T2-3K, ARL-8127-T2-3K Stampers : 1 M  /  1 G
Very good plus (VG+) condition vinyl - weighty, completely flat and retaining a nice jet black lacquered sheen and in normal daylight comes across as truly excellent. Closer inspection under a bright light reveals a few very small and very faint scuff marks on each side along with the occasional very fine hairline - all are non-feelable and appear to be superficial though there is just a little very, very background crackle on each of A2 and B2 - barely intrusive at all.  The original early press turquoise and circular grooved labels are excellent plus with some very small and very faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label being the only blemishes.   Very good plus (VG+) condition front and back laminated Robert Stace outer sleeve with the iconic front-side lenticular/3D portrait of the band. Firm unscuffed edges including the spine where all spine text remains perfectly intact, no laminate lifting, each corner remains a near perfectly defined right angle with barely any rubbing, the opening edges are firm with no fraying, and all colours, beautiful art work, and text remain beautifully intact and with great definition still. The blemishes (each very minor and very non-obvious) are the occasional 1cm surface laminate crease adjacent and perpendicular to the spine on both the front and reverse side, a very faint 4-5cm laminate crease/crinkle on the front side towards each of the right side corners, an 8cm mild and faint horizontal score mark on the reverse side (you will need to tilt the gatefold to the correct angle in the right light to identify it), and a couple of small and virtually insignificant handling/storage marks on the reverse side. Undoubtedly this copy remains in impressive and eminently presentable condition. Very good plus (VG+) mono sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats, or distortion and any background crackle is at a absolute minimum - just the hint of some very, very light background crackle at the beginning of "Citadel" (there are 4 or 5 tiny, non-feelable very light scuff marks at the beginning of this track), towards the beginning of "The Lantern" (accompanied by x2 mild background clicks), and a couple of the intermissions - barely intrusive at all, with excellent tone and clear mono audio and every track remaining a great listen.  Comes with original red and white psychedelic inner sleeve with a 9cm split in the middle of the left side, a little fraying on the reverse side top edge, and some mild creasing towards two of the corners but remaining presentable and functional.  Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.    A lovely copy of this 1967 Stones original arguably at their most psychedelic - great listening!
