Through The Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2) is The Rolling Stones' second official compilation album, released in 1969 shortly following Brian Jones's departure from the group and subsequent death. The name of the album is a play on a line from the KJV translation of I Corinthians 13: "For now we see through a glass, darkly, but then face to face: . . .", but it is more likely the Stones intended an homage to Ingmar Bergman and his 1961 film Through a Glas Darkly!!!.
In September, Through The Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2) - dedicated to Jones - appeared with a limited edition octagonal-shaped album cover. Because their first compilation had been released in separate UK and US formats (with the Aftermath-era material appearing only on the UK edition), the American edition included hit singles from that period!!.
The UK tracklist included the more obscure "You Better Move On", from The Rolling Stones' self-titled 1964 debut EP and "Sittin' On A Fence", an Aftermath outtake originally released in 1967 on the US-compiled Flowers album. In addition to those songs, many tracks, notably single-only releases, were collected for the first time on a UK Rolling Stones album: "Let's Spend the Night Together", "Ruby Tuesday", "We Love You", "Dandelion" and "Honky Tonk Women"!!!

The Vinyl
On visual inspection this is of the original heavier and thicker vinyl and more robust than later pressings. The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable. This looks SUPERBE (VERY NEAR PRISTINE)still retaining its original glossy sheen from new. In strong light any marks that could possibly be seen would have been caused by the record been slid in and out of its sleeve Iin the form of very light whyspy sleeve removal marks\scuffs.These have little if (no) effect on the audio as I heard it! I have played this through track for track on a top system at very loud volume! The audio is superbe cristal clear and vibrant. There were no clicks pops or any jumps truly awesome and very rare to find on an early seventies Stones album! pressing.!!!!! (NO) Signs of groovware at all This audio is graded at the very top!!!!(please note! this has looks and sounds like this has hardly ever been played)!!!!!!
PLEASE NOTE! I always add this disclaimer! I have played this album prior to listing as usual and have given my honest opinion on the audio quality. Please remember this is a 36 years old original vinyl (not a reissue) Please allow for the odd static tick (not) consistant through out the audio! This would have been originally played on a system that is 36 years old!!!
All indications i.e. that this vinyl has (not) been overplayed and in fact hardly played are the audio quality superbe on all frequencies and the fact there are only a minimal amount of spider marks!
The Matrix
side 1. ''XZAL-9067-P-1W''
side 2. ''XZAL-9068-P-2W''
The Mother Stampers
side1. ''0 1'' ''1 G'' (MEGA J.T TAX CODE STAMPED AT 12 OCLOCK TO TH MATRIX)This should be K.T. in line with the correct year!
side 2. ''1'' ''K G'' (MEGA J.T TAX CODE STAMPED AT 12 OCLOCK TO TH MATRIX) This should be K.T. in line with the correct year!
Please note! The J.T. tax code means that the materials used to press this vinyl were of much earlier than when this pressing was released this is why this has a thick and chunky type of vinyl only found on early pressings and produce the best audio quality!!

These feature the BLUE BOXED DECCA labels STEREO! In awesome condition like new! no scuffs in strong light very minimal spider marks can be seen!! in my opinion this has hardly ever been played Unbeleivable for an early seventies Stones vinyl!!!!
